My Story
I'm endlessly curious about people and their stories. I believe suffering can be alchemized into growth, and my goal in my work as a counselor is to help others feel less alone in their pain. I work with individuals, couples, families, and groups. I can offer support for clients experiencing issues like grief and loss, trauma processing, life transitions, and burnout. I’m also drawn to helping clients navigate religious/spiritual deconstruction, the challenges of non-traditional family structures, and improving relationships with themselves and others.
As a counselor, I show up with warmth, deep listening, and an honest, down-to-earth perspective. My work is grounded in relational-cultural therapy and existential therapy; I'm as interested in how you relate to yourself and others as I am in the meaning you're making of your life. With couples, I draw on Emotionally Focused Therapy, the gold standard for helping partners break out of painful cycles and reach for each other differently. I'm trained in a range of techniques beyond these, but I don't believe in a one-size-fits-all approach. I meet each client with creativity, collaboration, and flexibility.
My goal is to help you develop insight and awareness, moving toward embracing your authentic self. I view emotions as a path, not a problem: a way of becoming more visible to yourself and reconnecting to your own nature. Change takes courage, and I'm honored to help you take relational risks that move you toward your goals with confidence.
I received a Bachelor's degree in English Literature from UNC Wilmington in 2015 and a Master's degree in Education from Seattle University in 2019. Before turning toward counseling, I spent ten years as a classroom teacher across grades 3-12, which shaped how closely I pay attention to the ways people (and their relationships with others) grow and change over time. I'm currently in my final year of Lenoir Rhyne’s Licensed Clinical Mental Health Counseling program. Outside of work, I’m probably sewing or crocheting with Bob’s Burgers in the background, dancing in the front row of a Zumba class, or exploring some trails with my sweetie and our chocolate lab. Spending time in nature helps me feel more peaceful, and I hope you feel the same as we work together!
