My Story

My name, Cassandra means “Helper of Mankind”, which is a trait that’s shown up since early childhood. You would find me walking around my mom’s Bible study, handing out tissues to all in attendance as a token of comfort. When my mom suddenly died at 12 years old, I felt overwhelmed, lonely, and grief-stricken, yet continued to pretend I had it all together and was “fine.” As a therapist today, I strive to be the kind of adult I needed back then–someone safe, compassionate, and attuned– who takes the time to build trust and create a space where people feel free to share their deepest hurts.

I received my Bachelor’s in Arts Administration and Theatre from Drury University in Springfield, MO. After spending a year in Sweden and traveling across the US, I discovered my passion for social work and mental health while working in residential treatment for children and adolescents. I’ve spent over a decade in the residential mental health industry specializing in kids and young adults who have been adopted or have profound attachment wounds. I completed my Masters of Social Work (MSW) from Campbellsville University in 2021 and worked as a school-based therapist in a local intermediate school before transitioning to Winter to Spring. I am fully licensed in North Carolina as a Licensed Clinical Social Worker (LCSW).

I operate from a highly relational, attachment-focused lens with a focus on emotional attunement, connection, and safety. The foundation of my work is creating an atmosphere where people feel deeply seen, understood, valued, and cared for exactly as they are. I lean into somatics to help create deeper connections between mind and body to develop greater containers to hold and experience big emotions and process trauma. I tailor my approach to each individual, drawing from a blend of modalities to meet their unique needs. These include Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT), Motivational Interviewing, Trauma-Focused CBT, Dyadic Developmental Psychotherapy, Theraplay, EMDR, and Brainspotting.

Outside of the therapy office, I’m most alive when I’m spending time in nature–hiking, swimming, paddling, and exploring with my dog in the mountains. I love doing improv comedy, line dancing, practicing yoga, gardening, and listening to audiobooks and podcasts. A lifelong travel and culture enthusiast, I’ve visited 46 countries and 48 U.S. states, and I love connecting with others over shared stories of past adventures or dreams of new destinations.

Meet Flora!

Flora is my goofy golden retriever and a certified therapy dog through the Alliance of Therapy Dogs. Since 2023, she has been bringing her calm presence and warm heart to comfort others.

Flora comes from a line of therapy dogs who have worked in residential programs, and she seems to have inherited a special gift for emotional attunement. She has an intuitive sense for when someone needs a little extra comfort and often responds with quiet closeness, a head on the lap, or her signature “grunt” of contentment—her version of a purr—when she’s especially happy or getting pets in just the right spot.

Her docile temperament and steady energy make her a soothing and supportive presence during sessions. Whether she's simply lying nearby or offering her head for a gentle scratch, Flora brings an added layer of connection and comfort to the healing process.

I specialize in:

  • Adoption/Attachment Wounds

  • Trauma

  • Emotional Dysregulation

  • Grief

  • Anxiety/Depression

  • Religious Trauma/Spiritual Exploration
