My Story
I believe in the power of human resiliency- the capacity for us to be flexible, adaptable, and bounce back from the inevitable challenges of our humanness. But sometimes it can feel difficult to find resiliency when the life stressors pile up, leaving you feeling as if you are barely keeping your head above water. Perhaps for you, it is being engulfed with grief after the loss of a loved one, the devastating pain of a relationship ending, recognizing self-sabotaging tendencies that ultimately leave you stuck in the same cycle, or maybe all of the above at the same time.
As a counselor - I seek to come alongside you, to be with you in these pain cycles. We will work together, through a creative, collaborative, and compassionate lens, to help you find a path out of these challenging cycles together.
I am a Licensed Clinical Mental Health Counselor and a Licensed Clinical Addictions Specialist in the state of North Carolina, and a National Certified Counselor with the National Board of Certified Counselors. I have worked in various roles and agencies within the realm of mental health treatment for almost ten years, with the last four years practicing as a Licensed Clinical Mental Health Counselor. During these employment experiences, I have seen time and time again the healing power of a therapeutic relationship- one that provides a safe, supportive, and non- judgmental environment to help a person heal from life’s most challenging experiences. This is what I seek to provide to the clients I work alongside in a therapeutic partnership.
I have engaged in various trainings including Acceptance and Commitment Therapy, Motivational Interviewing, Emotionally Focused Therapy for Couples, and Mindfulness Based Counseling. Most individuals I work alongside are experiencing various types of grief (death, ending of a relationship, ambiguous loss), have varying levels of substance/alcohol use, are wanting to address ineffective patterns in relationships, and are older adults seeking to address challenges commonly found later in life.
I feel honored to be a therapist and look forward to my job every day. When not at work, I try to be outside as much as possible, either hiking, gravel or mountain biking, and rock climbing. I have a deep appreciation for my morning cup of coffee, breakfast for dinner, college football, and my community of friends and family.
I specialize in:
