My Story

Hey fellow human!

Nice to meet you. I am currently in my last year of my clinical mental health counseling program at Lenoir Rhyne University. Ever since I was a little one, I knew that I felt a call to help people and connect deeply with them. During the course of my childhood, I lost touch with that essence. I abandoned myself to fit the narrative of the world around me, until I started to realize that my true self was too big to fit the script that was handed to me. Over the years I have realized that we hold the key to our best selves inside and the work is in discovering what is in the way of the door. Throughout a powerful and ongoing journey back to myself I have reconnected with that desire to help others. I have seen the power of personal growth and getting help along the way. The wisdom of my body has helped me to start to actualize myself and step into bigger and better realities. I personally believe that we are not meant to walk this life alone and having close connections is pivotal to personal transformation. As a qualified professional I want to use my life-experience paired with clinical training to work with people to help them to be the best versions of themselves.

Over the course of our lives our body endures many hardships. How we make meaning of these experiences is remembered, even if it is not a part of our present awareness. It is through turning inward that we can start to see the things that we have held onto and begin the process of letting go and healing. This process can be challenging, scary, and unknown, I am here to help you step into this fear knowing that you have the support of a professional, and a fellow human. My approach to counseling integrates multiple theoretical approaches. I draw from person centered, existential, gestalt, reality, and relational cultural theories. I believe the wisdom of the body can be recognized and wielded to support growth and transformation. Our somatic experience holds the answers. Using the body as a compass our work will explore identity, relationships, unprocessed emotions, our shadows, and our light. As a member of the LBGTQ+ community I use identity work to help other humans shed and discover who they really are behind what we are told to be. Our work in this life is a spiritual journey that we have the power to mold. Through recognizing and moving towards our present moment experience we discover the power of personal autonomy. Through approaching ourselves with curiosity and compassion we offer ourselves greater capacity to face what life brings our way.
